Our Programs

ProgramsOver the past decade, KALO has supported the growth of an innovative family of womb-to-tomb programs that are community-based, family-oriented and culturally-driven.  All programs are grounded in a Pedagogy of Aloha that is at once traditional and contemporary, and presents unprecedented potential to address the distinctive needs of Hawai’i’s native population.

Collectively KALO’s programs serve thousands of Hawaiians on multiple islands and provide a model for a Hawaiian-focused intergenerational system of education that addresses the twin problems of student disengagement and low academic achievement by providing culturally relevant, academically rigorous education in a values-based, inclusive learning environment where learners of all ages are well cared for and challenged to meet high expectations.  

KALO programs are open and transparent settings where visitors are always welcome.  Moreover, information about KALO’s Hawaiian-focused womb-to-tomb approach to education is shared annually with thousands of local, national and international educators, administrators, researchers and government officials interested in 21st century educational reform.
